Last October’s Annual Tide Mill Conference was postponed because of a local emergency, but it has now been rescheduled for Saturday, May 4. The conference theme, “Harnessing Tides for Energy and Agriculture,” remains the same.
The May 4 conference will convene at the Kittery Community Center in Kittery, Maine, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (12:30 UTC) for in-person and for online participants via Zoom conferencing.
Join other tide mill enthusiasts and scholars to participate in talks about a recent archeological study of the Bell tide mill ruins, the history of a 20th century proposal to harness the tides in Passamaquoddy Bay, an update on current and future tidal energy initiatives worldwide, and the impact of 17th-century dykes along the shores of Bay of Fundy in today’s Nova Scotia from the time of their construction to the present.
Following the morning presentations, in-person participants are invited to travel by car-caravan to visit the Greeley and Tuck tide mill sites in Seabrook, N.H.
Please register now. The conference fee is $25, payable by credit card online or by check. (Lunch not included. Lunch options will be announced before the conference.)
