Tide Mill Institute’s fifteenth conference has been scheduled for Kittery, Maine, on Friday and Saturday October 25th and 26th – SAVE THESE DATES!
Reports about tide mills from Kittery to Seabrook (N.H.), Boston and Europe will be offered by scholars and amateurs, and a research study exploring the Gulf of Maine’s currents for creating sustainable energy will be shared. Participants will tour Kittery, Portsmouth and Newcastle tide mill sites by bus.
Several of Kittery’s Spruce Creek mills will be described as well as those of Portsmouth’s North and South Mill Ponds and early ones in Eliot, Rye, Newcastle, Hampton and Seabrook.
There will also be presentations about tide mills further afield – from Revere to Quincy in Boston, a Thames River tide mill in London, and perhaps even a report by someone in France who’s trying to list every tide mill in the world.
Saturday lunch, refreshments and bus tour are included in the $50 registration fee.
More details will be coming, but register early! TMI members receive a 20% discount on the $50 registration fee. Responses and questions – info@tidemillinstitute.org or 207-946-4156.
